Mutual legal assistance: a tool to fight against illicit tobacco

30 September 2021 14:00 – 15:30 UTC Time

Mutual legal assistance constitutes a key tool in the prosecution of transnational illicit tobacco trade. Inspired by Article 18 of the United Nations Treaty on Organized Crime and Article 46 of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, Article 29 of the Protocol provides a legal basis for requests for legal assistance between Parties.

The webinar will provide an overview of the existing mechanisms for mutual legal assistance and how Parties can benefit from it in combatting illicit tobacco. Presentations by expert speakers will be followed by a dedicated Q&A session.
