Webinar series to celebrate the 20-year anniversary of the WHO FCTC
This virtual side event in the margins of the 2025 High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development commemorates two decades of impact, offering a platform to reflect on progress, discuss ongoing challenges, and reaffirm commitment to tobacco control and public health. With 183 Parties—representing 90% of the global population— the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC) has galvanized cooperation among governments, UN agencies, and civil society, setting a precedent for multilateral action.
It will reaffirm the WHO FCTC as a key driver of SDG 3, with Target 3.a recognizing that reducing tobacco use is vital to tackling noncommunicable diseases and promoting equitable, sustainable development.
