More than 50 stakeholders met virtually this week to officially launch the FCTC 2030 project in Serbia and kick-off a needs assessment and investment case mission for the implementation of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC).

The needs assessment exercise is jointly conducted by the State Authorities of Serbia, the Secretariat of the WHO FCTC, World Health Organization and the United Nations Development Program to assess implementation of the Treaty, which Serbia has been a Party of since 2006.

The needs assessment will help identify tobacco control gaps as well as make recommendations for advancing implementation of the WHO FCTC in the country. As part of the needs assessment, a series of bilateral meetings with various government departments will take place from 23 February to 01 March.
