Benin WHO FCTC Needs Assessment
Overview
Benin signed the WHO FCTC on June 18, 2004, and ratified it on November 3, 2005. The Convention entered into force in the country on February 1, 2006. Benin invited a needs assessment mission for the implementation of the WHO FCTC, conducted jointly by the Convention Secretariat and the Ministry of Health. The needs assessment mission took place from November 2 - 6, 2015, and consisted of an initial analysis of the state of implementation and the identification of challenges and needs.
The assessment mission also included the participation of the WHO Country Office (WHO Benin) and the WHO Regional Office for Africa, as well as the collaboration of relevant Beninese agencies and ministries and several non-governmental organizations working in tobacco control.
