Mauritius WHO FCTC Needs Assessment

Overview

Mauritius ratified the WHO FCTC on 17 May 2004 as the 15th country in the world to do so. The Convention entered into force for Mauritius on 27 February 2005. A needs assessment exercise for implementation of the WHO FCTC was conducted jointly by the Government of Mauritius and the Convention Secretariat, in May and June 2013, including the initial analysis of the status, challenges and potential needs deriving from the country’s most recent implementation report and other sources of information. An international team led by the Convention Secretariat, which also included representatives of the WHO Regional Office for Africa and the WHO Country Office, conducted the mission to Mauritius on 10–14 June 2013.
