Mongolia WHO FCTC Needs Assessment
Overview
Mongolia ratified the WHO FCTC on16 June 2003, the 6thcountry in the world and the 2ndcountry in the Western Pacific Region to become a Party to the Convention. The Convention entered into force for Mongolia on 27 January 2004. A needs assessment exercise for implementation of the WHO FCTC was conducted jointly by the Government of Mongolia and the Convention Secretariat from July - September 2015, including the initial analysis of the status, challenges and potential needs deriving from the country’s most recent implementation report and other sources of information. An international team, led by the Convention Secretariat and representatives of the WHO Prevention of Noncommunicable Diseases Department and the United Nations Development Programme, conducted a mission in Mongolia, from 7 to 11 September 2015.
