Solomon Islands WHO FCTC Needs Assessment

Overview

Solomon Islands ratified the WHO FCTC on 10 August 2004 and was among the first 40 countries to do so. The Convention entered into force for Solomon Islands on 27 February 2005. A needs assessment exercise concerning implementation of the WHO FCTC was conducted jointly by the Government of Solomon Islands and the Convention Secretariat from February to May 2012. The assessment involved an initial analysis of the status, challenges and potential needs deriving from the country’s latest implementation report and other sources of information and the mission of an international team, comprised of representatives of the Convention Secretariat, WHO South Pacific Office and the WHO Liaison Office in Solomon Islands on 12–16 March 2012.
