The eleventh session of the Conference of the Parties (COP11) to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC) will take place at the Geneva International Conference Center, Geneva, Switzerland on 17- 22 November 2025.  
 
The fourth session of the Meeting of the Parties (MOP4) to the Protocol to Eliminate Illicit Trade in Tobacco Products will take place at the World Health Organization Headquarters, Geneva, Switzerland on 24-26 November 2025.  

The media accreditation opens from Tuesday, 12 August and closes on 3 November 2025

The media accreditation opens from Tuesday, 12 August and closes on 3 November 2025

Media accreditation

Correspondents wishing to cover COP11 and/or MOP4 need to be accredited.

In line with current United Nations policies for media accreditation to the World Health Assembly, and in accordance with COP and MOP decisions FCTC/COP8(12) and FCTC/MOP1(15).

The application for media accreditation form must be duly filled out on the following links:

The following information will be required by journalists to complete their registration:

  • A letter signed by their editor-in-chief or equivalent supervisor, indicating the reason for accreditation and the dates for which accreditation is required;
  • Photocopies of media credentials (press identification card);
  • A copy of their national passport.
  • A list of 3 of your most recently published articles. Please send them to mediafctc@who.int

Open or restricted sessions

In accordance with Rule 32 of the Rules of Procedure of the COP, sessions of the COP and MOP shall be held in public, unless the COP and MOP decide that they shall be open or restricted. Unless the Parties decide otherwise, accredited media shall be entitled to attend the open sessions of the COP. In accordance with Rule 2, paragraph 10, accredited media may attend the public sessions

In addition, in accordance with Rule 24, the meetings of the committees of the COP shall be held in public unless the committee concerned decides that they shall be open or restricted.

 🎤 Press conferences and key media moments

- A virtual opening press conference in the lead up to COP11 and MOP4 will take place on Thursday, 13 November, with speakers. Timings to be announced closer to the date.

- A hybrid press conference will be held following the closing of the COP on Saturday, 22 November at 14:00 CET.

 - Media briefings and interviews will be held throughout the COP with further details shared in due course.

- Please note that some sessions during the COP and the MOP will be live-streamed here and here with more details to be announced in due course.
